Gudi Padwa is the Marathi name for Chaitra Shukla Pratipada. It is celebrated on the first day of Chaitra month, which is known as the first day of New Year, according to the Hindu calendar. In Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh Ugadi festival is celebrated in same reason, which is known as Hindu New Year.
